In a commendable effort to extend quality healthcare services to marginalized sectors, the Provincial Government of Cavite in partnership with the Prison Ministry of Diocese of Imus and New Humanity Volunteers, organized a medical mission on June 16, 2023 at BJMP, Tagaytay City, serving around 200 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs). The noble initiative aimed to ensure that even those behind bars have access to the much-needed healthcare services.
PDLs were given the opportunity to discuss their health concerns with the attending medical professionals, who diligently assessed their conditions and provided appropriate treatments and medications. Additionally, a pharmacy was set up on-site, ensuring that essential medications were readily available.
The event was met with overwhelming gratitude from the PDLs and BJMP officials, who expressed their appreciation for the government’s concern to their welfare. They shared their hopes of improved health and a brighter future for PDLs. (OPIO)
